Responsibilities

 

Medicaid Program Advisor – Office of Mental Health in Albany, NY
Item 1235

 

Summary:

This position is integral to OMH’s Medicaid managed care oversight activities and is relied upon to perform operational surveys of Medicaid Managed Care Organizations. A successful candidate will be able to validate survey findings, articulate conclusions, and produce summary reports. Writing and organizational skills are imperative to the functions of this position. Knowledge of behavioral health services, Medicaid, and managed care are preferred.

 

Specific functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the NYS Department of Health by contributing to routine and ad-hoc Medicaid Managed Care Organization surveillance activities.
  • Working with Medicaid Managed Care Organizations including explaining policy guidance and attending and presenting at relevant policy meetings.
  • Evaluating Medicaid Managed Care Organization compliance with behavioral health standards.
  • With NYS Department of Health staff, participating in Behavioral Health Readiness Review and Operational Survey activities.
  • Creating and editing Medicaid Managed Care Organization behavioral health compliance review tools.
  • Coordinating stakeholder relationships with other NYS agencies including the Office of Addiction Services and Supports, Department of Health, Office of Children and Family Services, and Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.
  • Providing and facilitating managed care and mental health technical assistance and training related to issues such as billing, claims processes, access, and consumer and provider education.
  • Accepting new responsibilities in response to the Office’s evolving needs.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8 years of professional experience

 

Desired Characteristics:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college and 5 years of industry experience.
  • Industry experience in a mental health-related specialty, public administration, business administration, or health administration is preferred.
  • The candidate must also be proficient in the use of meeting technologies (e.g. WebEx, Eventbrite). Travel is required (30%).

 

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $68,600-$86,000. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
