Summary:

 


The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS or the Department) is dedicated to promoting health, safety, resilience, and opportunity for Maine people. The Department provides health and social services to approximately a third of the State's population, including children, families, older Mainers, and individuals with disabilities, mental illness, and substance use disorders. The Department also promotes public health, operates two state psychiatric hospitals, and provides oversight to health care providers.

 


The Office of Aging and Disability Services (OADS) within DHHS is responsible for ensuring the safety, support and well-being of Maine’s older citizens, vulnerable adults and adults with disabilities. Adult Protective Services, within OADS, is responsible for investigating allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of incapacitated and dependent adults and carrying out the responsibilities of the Department’s public guardianship and conservatorship program.

 


This limited period, contracted Case Aide position provides assistance and support to the Human Services Department customers and professional casework staff.

 

Work duties include: 


      a) Visiting clients
      b) Documenting client contact and observations in Evergreen in a timely efficient

         manner
     c) Purchasing personal items for clients as requested and approved by

         caseworker staff

     d) Transporting clients as requested and approved by supervisory staff
     e) Filing and organizing client records
     f) Assisting casework staff in searching for placements/facilities for clients and 

        documenting such searches as well as the outcomes in an organized manner
     g) Performance of administrative tasks
     h) Providing efficient and effective customer service during all telephone and other

         interactions with clients, their family members, the public and other State

         employees/ co-workers

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Two years of education, training or experience work with adults with intellectual disability or autism, older adults, or adults with disabilities or other directly related habilitative or educational work.
  • Necessary special requirement: a valid driver’s license

 

 

The background of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate expertise in the following areas:


     a)   Ability to communicate effectively
     b)   Ability to write clearly and effectively
     c)   Ability to collect and analyze information, reach logical conclusions, and make

           sound decisions
     d)   Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
     e)   Ability to use applicable computer programs

 

 

The incumbent will be responsible to assist with creation of a Family Caregiver program by convening and facilitating a stakeholder group on an ongoing basis, including:

 

 a)   Maintaining meeting notes and calendar invites for the stakeholder group

 

 b)   Assisting with oversight and management of service contracts and budgets for

  the Family Caregiver Grant Pilot Program

 

c)     Reviewing and analyzing program policies, procedures, rules, and regulations

  to provide technical assistance during the design, implementation, and

  evaluation of the Family Caregiver Grant Pilot Program

 

d)     Monitoring and collecting program reports, data, and related information to

  prepare programmatic and financial reports as needed for the Family

  Caregiver Grant Pilot Program

 

e)     Reviewing and assessing data collected in Maine’s WellSky Aging & Disability

  statewide database regarding caregiver services delivered through the Family

  Caregiver Grant Pilot to prepare required and requested reports

 

f)       Participating in on-site visits of Family Caregiver/Respite Services Programs

  including documentation of findings as part of the implementation of the

  Family Caregiver Grant Pilot Program

 

g)     Serving as the OADS liaison for the Family Caregiver Grant Pilot Program

 

h)     Facilitating and hosting meetings with the local Area Agencies on Aging and

  other community partners

 

 

The position is part-time, 24 hours per week, consisting of three 8-hour workdays. Partial telework is an option, subject to an agreement and in-person availability for certain key meetings and events. The position is a limited-term contract position expected to be in place throughout the duration of the federal grant, which is currently scheduled to end September 2024

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides the following reasonable compensation for this role: $30.00 per hour. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
