Overview

Data Analyst - Home & Community Based Services in Augusta, ME

The Analytics team is located within a broader OMS Data Analytics unit. This position will support projects under the Department’s 
Home and Community-Based Services Improvement Plan, funded by the American Rescue Plan, to help ensure that people with age-related, physical, behavioral, intellectual, and cognitive health needs have access to high-quality care that supports independence. This position will provide key information obtained through data analysis to aid in OMS’s HCBS programs and initiatives, to support ongoing operations, to help improve health outcomes for MaineCare beneficiaries, and to provide research relating to potential future initiatives.


This position is located in Augusta, Maine and may be eligible for telework.

Minimum requirements:

 

  • In order to qualify for this position, you must have an eight (8) year combination of education and/or experience that includes a bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field -AND- two (2) years of experience in data analysis, accounting, and/or financial analysis. Directly related professional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

As a MaineCare HCBS Data Analyst, you will:

  • Apply your professional analytical skills and your financial, statistical, and programmatic knowledge to a variety of OMS and other DHHS Office analytic initiatives.
  • Provide analytic support for our HCBS waiver programs.
  • Prepare data and reports for federal reporting required on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.
  • Identify and obtain data sources relevant to health equity, healthcare quality, utilization, expenditures, and delivery.
  • Create analytical datasets by integrating multiple raw data sources using a variety of programming languages and data management tools.
  • Validate and maintain data integrity within our data warehouses, decision support, and claims processing systems.
  • Prepare reports, data visualizations, analyses, and forecasts to support clinical, operational, and budgetary initiatives.
  • Work individually and as part of multi-disciplinary teams on projects varying in size and scope from short-term ad-hoc requests to long-term strategic initiatives while collaborating with other OMS units and DHHS offices, and the Department of Administrative and Financial Services. 

Qualifications

 

Preferred experience includes:

  • Experience with and knowledge of the Medicaid program and/or other health and human services programs serving low-income or other at-risk populations
  • Lived experience with Medicaid and/or other health-related social needs common to and families receiving Medicaid coverage

The background of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate the following competencies:

 

  • Prior experience in analyzing Medicaid or other social service program or financial data.
  • A demonstrated ability to obtain, synthesize, and integrate a broad range of data (e.g. administrative, clinical, or survey) from multiple sources for use in analytic and financial reporting initiatives.
  • A knowledge of health care and/or social services programs operational business processes.
  • A history of utilizing data and statistical analysis to test, challenge, and defend assumptions and to support planning and decision-making processes. 
  • Advanced technical skills in the use of spreadsheets (e.g., pivot tables, functions, macros/VB script, etc.), database query/reporting methodologies and statistical analysis skill sets.

 

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role.
