A major facet of Public Consulting Group’s marketing effort is participating in hundreds of industry-specific conferences as well as holding internal corporate events (i.e., fiscal year-end/holiday events, practice area retreats, DEI programs, etc.). The Conference Manager will report to the Director of Production and Creative Services and work closely with the department’s Senior Leadership team to support optimal return of investment for both external and internal events.

Responsibilities

The Conference Manager will bring their own knowledge of conference marketing and strategy to guide and inform internal teams on the best ways to invest their resources to achieve the best results, being responsible for PCG’s conference participation “playbook”, our internal guide for its business divisions’ involvement in trade shows, conferences, which has as its objective, to afford PCG teams the greatest return on their investment. This supervisory role will direct, oversee and collaborate with and assign tasks, to other conference department team members, and oversee/provide the following:

 

External Events

  • As requested, review and assign external conference requests to the appropriate conference department team member (i.e., Conference Planner, Conference Coordinator)
  • Develop and implement conference strategies and best practices for qualified national conferences. This can include advising teams on best use of their budgets, managing PCG’s presence at each of these large-scale events, managing third-party vendor relationships, sourcing and procuring promotional materials, etc.
  • Create various reports, capturing conference activities and results/outcomes, for quarterly presentation to Practice Area Directors, and corporate leadership. A critical focus of such reports should be to provide readily understandable analyses of conference outcomes, costs and a “grade” as to its value to the firm.
  • Coordinate with Social Media Strategist on conference-related social media strategies and tactics.
  • Work with Production and Creative Services team to integrate and develop new standards for tracking and monitoring conference participation throughout the firm.
  • Coordinate with Communication/PR team to develop marketing strategies for specific, high-potential conferences.

 

Internal Events

  • Meet with stakeholders to discuss internal event needs (budget, venue location(s), food and beverage requirements, AV needs, etc.)
  • Submit RFP requests, negotiate/secure contracts and payment.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors and internal teams to ensure a seamless event.
  • If required, work with the Creative Services and Communications departments to develop and execute a marketing strategy for the event (email campaigns, event branding, promotional materials, etc.)

Other Assignments

  • Supervise/mentor conference department staff. Including assigning tasks, overseeing work quality, regularly having discussions around job performance and career development. Work with the Director of Production and Creative Services regarding staff performance reviews, comp and bonus recommendations.
  • Collaborate with senior marketing department leaders to develop and implement streamlined department workflow processes.
  • Source team and client gifts, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Project management experience
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work and collaborate with a range of internal stakeholders (including C-Suite management)
  • Capability to work independently and in group settings
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Forms) with an aptitude to learn new software and systems (MS Dynamics Marketing and CRM related modules)

Qulaifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • 8-10+ years experience
  • CMP strongley preferred

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $90,000 - $120,000 . In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role.
