PCG’s Education Consulting service line works with states, districts, and school clients to provide a wide spectrum of services, such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews. Past project engagements, for example, have included the development of the EngageNY grades 6–12 English Language Arts Common-Core aligned curriculum for the New York State Education Department, design and delivery of a system of professional learning for the Connecticut State Department of Education, and the creation of curriculum aligned to the Florida B.E.S.T standards. We are currently partnering with Chicago Public Schools to support implementation of a full-year, standards-aligned and culturally-responsive curriculum for PK–12 ELA and mathematics that our team developed.

PCG is currently seeking a Publishing Operations Coordinator to coordinate all aspects of operations related to the development and publication of print and digital curriculum for our clients in the K-12 education sector. The Publishing Operations Coordinator oversees day-to-day activities for the project operations team including scheduling, resourcing, and logistics. This position will work remotely with occasional travel for meetings and training as needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Operations Coordination:
  • Create and maintain schedules in Smartsheet or Microsoft Project. Manage schedule revision based on project updates and share with the Content Coordinator (project management lead for writing team).
  • Manage day-to-day operations team, scheduling work and communicating progress, risk/escalation points, and deliverable status. Estimate and coordinate timelines, due dates, assignments, and workflows. Operations work includes copyediting, stylization/design, development of graphics and interactives, content migration, quality assurance, and printing work.
  • Provide supervision and direction for operations team, including leads for copyediting, stylization, and quality assurance. Offer feedback and escalate performance issues, as needed.
  • Contribute to and implement process improvements and maintain relevant project documentation, including process documentation.
  • Ensure operations staff have access and resources necessary to complete their work (e.g., texts, folder access, account access). Provide training as needed.
  • Update the Risk Log and/or Issues Log (as needed), focusing on operations-related items. Propose solutions and collaborate across teams to resolve issues.
  • Manage communications with printer for student anthology printing and distribution/logistics.
• Third-Party Content Management and Licensing: 
  • Coordinate with Content Coordinator and Permissions Editor to ensure that third-party content milestones are included on the schedule and communicated with lead writers (and monitoring/ensuring third-party content milestones are achieved). 
  • Drive the operational processes involving the third-party content/asset list including tracking, creating the acknowledgements page, and sourcing images.
• Manage Collaboration Tools (e.g., SharePoint; internal and client-facing and Google Drives):
  • Liaise with corporate IT services team to implement tools.
  • Manage layout/configuration, permissions, file structure, and guidance for use.
  • Manage SharePoint and/or Google accounts, coordinating with IT, as needed (e.g., account access; utilization of Google Meet or other resources).
• Recruit, Hire, and Onboarding Operations Resources:
  • Ensure the operations team is fully resourced (coordinate with Operations Manager and HR to support recruitment and tracking of additional operations resources as needed).
  • Engage in interviews related to operations.
  • Work with team to set up processes for recruitment and screening of candidates and systematize and streamline processes for onboarding and calibration of new recruits.
