Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities

 

PCG is seeking a highly motivated and dependable Lead Family Services Employment Training Advisor (FS ETA) with an interest in public service who can work in our San Diego, CA CalWORKs Housing Support Program and Family Stabilization Program.

 

This position works collaboratively with FS ETAs, FS PA and FS leadership to support customers with housing and stabilization services including but not limited to:

  •  Housing placements and housing retention;
  •  Homeless Prevention Services such as temporary/permanent housing and utility assistance;  Transportation Emergency Assistance (TEA) case management (car repair, rental, towing)
  •  Case  management of families and referrals to Behavioral Health Services, Vista Hill, other outside partners for intensive services, and families being served through the Wrap Around Intensive Case Management program.

 

 

Specific Responsibilities

                   

  •       Provide coaching, training and mentoring for Family Services ETAs and program assistants while maintaining a small caseload of housing customers.        
  •       Assist in the onboarding and training of new Family Services employees.
  •       Assist customers in achieving housing stability and self-sufficiency by using a client-centered approach.
  •       Handle customer escalations when supervisor is unavailable.        Collaboratively work with Housing Navigators and relevant partners to effectively serve customers facing housing crises.
  •       Become well-versed in Family Stabilization and Housing Support Program County program and processing guides.
  •       Become well-versed in Rapid Rehousing and Housing First philosophies and concepts
  •       Assist in reviewing payment requests for quality assurance.
  •       Assist FS ETAs with entering cases into Clarity/HMIS which is a requirement for FS ETAs; have an intermediate to expert understanding of navigating Clarity/HMIS
  •       If needed, assist and train new hires in entering data into Clarity/HMIS         Assist in developing or improve internal SOPs for HSP and FS processes
  •       Follow procedural requirement of CalWORKs by updating customer case files in CalWIN.
  •       Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources, particularly housing resources.
  •       Ensure all performance metrics are met in achieving participant stated outcomes.
  •       Review monthly HSP and FS reports for accuracy and completion.
  •       Complete other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Required skills

 

  • Ability to work with and to build rapport with Family Services employees, as well as participants, and demonstrate active listening skills.
  • Display a professional level of empathy for participants and staff; demonstrate respect for cultural differences using a trauma-informed approach.
  • Well-organized, detail oriented and flexible.
  • Must be computer literate and have MS Office experience including Teams, Word, Excel. Must be comfortable utilizing search engines, such as Google, to look for customer resources.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to recognize and maintain the confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with County employees and other community agencies.
  • Ability to partner with and motivate customers experiencing mental health, intellectual disabilities or substance issues.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely records.
  • Ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision and on multiple projects simultaneously.

Required education and experience

 

  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred; however, 2 to 4 years of full-time experience in customer service and/or case management may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience with multicultural staff and customers is a plus
  • Previous knowledge in TANF/CalWORKs and housing programs is strongly desired.
