       Social Security Advocacy Management Service SSAMS™:

 

PCG’s SSAMS™ team provides comprehensive technology driven Social Security disability identification and advocacy services.  Our work encompasses contracts with public sector child welfare, TANF, Medicaid, and private sector individuals and pension/retirement plan agencies to identify and enroll disabled individuals onto Social Security’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and/or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) programs.

 

PCG SSAMS™ provides advocacy services for Orange County, California, Social Services Agency (SSA), assisting hard to serve individuals with medical and/or mental health impairments, and who may qualify for federal benefits, in applying for and obtaining SSI, SSDI and, State Supplementary Payment (SSP). These programs are designed to promote employment opportunities and self-sufficiency.  PCG assists potentially eligible CalWORKs/GR clients with the application process for SSI/SSP and SSDI benefits, including providing representation for claims pending at the Social Security Administration from the initial level through the hearing and appeals level.

Responsibilities

       

 

The Disability Entitlement Analyst (DEA) manages a caseload of referrals received for CalWORKs/GR clients and initiates contact to evaluate their health conditions to determine if they have potential eligibility for SSI/SSDI and/or SSP benefits and develops initial applications when warranted.  Interactions with CalWORKs/GR clients occur over the phone, at a GR office, in public locations easily accessible to clients, and at county sponsored outreach events at various locations.  This person will be responsible to gather a variety of heath evidence and other information to be used to complete an SSD/SSI application, create internal electronic files, and manage processes that assure timeliness and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:

  • Screen CalWORKs/GR clients to determine potential eligibility for SSI/SSDI/SSP.
  • Manage appointments and conduct in-depth interviews with individuals including collecting updated medical source information, discussing their impairments and limitations, work history and financial information.
  • Conduct outreach efforts and coordinate follow up efforts.
  • Ensure all appropriate information is gathered into the SSAMS Case Management system.
  • Manage non-responsive clients by coordinating efforts with the County.
  • Maintain detailed tracking of referrals, including date of referral, outreach efforts, and status.
  • Develop and file initial applications.
  • Provide regular communication to case workers and promote case worker referrals.
  • Maintain monthly project goals.
  • Provide monthly reporting statistics.

Qualifications

       Required Skills:

 

  • Understanding of modern office methods and practices and efficiency with Microsoft products, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish positive working relationships with customers.
  • Be culturally competent and apply disability etiquette when interacting with people with disabilities.
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of all materials in the work setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SSA’s medical, mental, and vocational criteria.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the relationship between SSI/SSDI and Medicaid/Medicare.
  • Ability to interpret and execute requests from SSA, DDS, OHO and County personnel.
  • Ability to maintain a record keeping and follow-up system and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interpret Social Security Disability criteria and analyze and apply that knowledge to individual's circumstance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in both English and Spanish.

 

 

            Required Experience:

  • Education:

    A Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of relevant experience

    Experience:

    Social Security disability advocacy, human service, or health related fields

    Certification:

    SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) certified (can obtain post-employment).
