The Opportunity 


PCG is seeking passionate, skilled, and experienced facilitators to provide professional learning and coaching services in support of the implementation of Chicago Public Schools’ new Skyline English Language Arts curriculum. The curriculum is a standards-aligned, grade-level-appropriate, and culturally relevant collection of instructional resources that CPS educators will be able to leverage to ensure that the needs of all students are met. To support launch of the curriculum, PCG is collaborating with the district to develop and deliver professional learning in the summer of 2021.    


About PCG’s Education Consulting Service Line 

PCG’s Education Consulting Service Line works with states, districts, and schools to address a wide spectrum of needs such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews.  

Recent project engagements have included the development of the EngageNY grades 6–12 English Language Arts curriculum for the New York State Education Department and the delivery of implementation services across several states, design and delivery of a K–3 professional learning program for the Connecticut State Department of Education, and the creation of training and resources to support college and career ready standards implementation for the Florida Department of Education. We are currently collaborating with Chicago Public Schools to develop a full-year, standards-aligned digital curriculum for PK–12 English language arts and mathematics.  


The Role 

Consultants use PCG-developed professional development materials and frameworks to deliver facilitation and coaching services with fidelity and in alignment with PCG’s professional norms. The immediate opportunity is to deliver a one-day professional learning “kickoff” course in a synchronous, virtual format during the week of August 9, utilizing content developed by PCG. A kickoff course has been developed for each grade levelincluding  PowerPoints, materials, and detailed facilitator guides that the consultants will use to deliver the courses Through the kickoff course, participants will learn: 1.) the features, principles, structures, and supports around which the curriculum was designed and 2.) how to prepare for instruction, including classroom set up, finding and using the materials, planning, pacing, and managing instructional time. Prior to delivery of services, consultants must successfully complete PCG’s training program during the week of August 2nd, 2021. 


After the kick-off session, additional opportunities may be available throughout the school year. Other tasks may include: 

  • Deliver additional professional learning and coaching to support implementation of the curriculum, key literacy practices, and instructional and coaching strategies.  
  • Work collaboratively with school- and district-based staff, including teachers, coaches, principals, professional development directors, and curriculum directors. 
  • Participate in ongoing calibration activities 
  • Travel to client site for delivery of services (as needed). Workload is variable throughout the year and depends on the number of client engagements assigned.

Required Experience 


  • Education 
  • Bachelors degree in Education 
  • Masters in Education or higher preferred 
  • Teaching Experience 
  • At least 3 years classroom experience teaching diverse learners  
  • Experience in low-performing, high-needs schools preferred 
  • Experience in urban districts preferred 
  • Facilitation Experience 
  • Experience providing professional development/coaching for educators, including in a virtual environment. 
  • Technology Experience 
  • Experience with Google Suite and Zoom is required. 
  • Experience with Safari Montage is preferred, although not required. 


Facilitators will be paid on a per diem basis.
