PCG’s Social Security Advocacy Management Services SSAMS™ team is part of PCG’s Human Service Practice Area, that specializes in Social Security Disability Advocacy services and has managed over 20 public sector agencies. The SSAMS project team provides Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation and advocacy work for low income Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and child welfare agencies throughout the country. Since 2011, PCG SSAMS has provided Social Security Disability Advocacy services for New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) to identify children and young adults with disabilities and to apply for SSI on their behalf. PCG also processes Change of Payee, Income Redetermination, Retirement Survivor Disability Insurance (RSDI), Continuing Disability Reviews (CDR) and 18-Year-Old Conversions claims for ACS. Additionally, PCG provides general consulting services to ACS’s Social Security Benefits Management Unit.
PCG is seeking a Disability Eligibility Analyst (DEA) to work with our NYC ACS project team. This person will be responsible to screen children’s electronic case files in the custody of NYC ACS for potential SSI eligibility and/or other Social Security Administration (SSA) benefits. The DEA is responsible to collect medical & school evidence and prepare SSI claims to be filed with SSA. The person in the role of the DEA must have analytical skills and apply critical thinking to case development. The DEA needs to understand SSA’s childhood and adulthood disability criteria. The DEA will work closely with ACS case workers, care providers, schools, and health care providers to collect the necessary evidence to support applications.
• Screen foster youth’s electronic case file for SSI and/or other SSA benefits
• Request medical, physiological, school and work records.
• Obtain signatures on all the required SSA forms and file applications.
• Provide status updates or request additional information as needed from case workers
• Assess evidence and apply analytical thinking to claims development.
• Provide monthly reporting statistics to the Team Lead for designated area of responsibility.
• Proper telephone etiquette that provides friendly and knowledgeable customer service
• Culturally competent
• Enthusiasm to be part of a team dedicated to doing great work
• Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including grammar, spelling, and vocabulary.
• Strong Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive working relationships with public sector agency staff
• Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of all materials in the work setting
• Knowledge and understanding of SSA’s disability criteria for both children and adults
• Knowledge and understanding of SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, and Medicare programs
• Ability to interpret and execute requests from SSA, Disability Determinations Services (DDS) and Office of Hearings Operations (OHO)
• Strong skills with time management
• Ability to work independently, requiring minimal supervision.
• A Bachelor’s degree or 3 years relevant experience.
• Social Security advocacy, Medical and/or Human Service background preferred.
